The Rawson Property Group have been proud corporate sponsors of Woodside Special Care Centre for profoundly intellectually and physically disabled children and young adults for the past ten years. Bill Rawson, Chairman of Rawson Properties and one of the Directors of Rawson Developers has been an active member on Woodside’s Board for the years and the Group and their clients have contributed many thousands of rands to the centre through a number of fund-raising initiatives.
Woodside’s annual operating budget is R4.5 million. Of that sum, R1, 433 724.00 is received from the national government in the form of subsidies and R1, 008 000.00 is charged to parents. The remainder, R2, 058 276.00 must be raised through donations.
Additionally, Woodside must fund their own capital costs such as repairs to the building, new equipment and the like. Many organisations who donate to facilities such as Woodside only wish to support project costs – in other words, specific activities or the purchase of specific equipment. Unfortunately, they are extremely dependant also on receiving funding for operating costs .
